Mercedes-Benz equips select Korean models with voice-controlled virtual assistant technology via interoperability of KT Corp.’s GiGA Genie with Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX).
Cerence (NASDAQ: CRNC) links with Mercedes-Benz Korea to bring integrated voice command capability to drivers of select models. Mercedes-Benz user experience, its intuitive infotainment and virtual assistant is getting a boost of the latest voice input technology from Cerence curtesy of its Cognitive Arbitrator tech that allows for seamless integration of the GiGA Genie smart capabilities in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mercedes-Benz EQA, and more.
KT Corp. (KRX: 030200; NYSE: KT), Korea’s largest telecom operator first introduced the GiGA Genie in 2017 as an AI-powered TV setup box and integrated virtual assistant. Now KT has expanded with over three million users bringing voice enabled access to music, video games, shopping and more.
Cerence and KT collaborated to bring GiGA Genie smart capabilities directly into Cerence-powered automotive assistants via the Cerence Cognitive Arbitrator. The Cognitive Arbitrator is a voice router that listens and uses AI to route user requests to the best method to accomplishing the task while still allowing the automakers to maintain brand experience and data ownership. As a voice router, the Cognitive Arbitrator is not directing the GiGA Genie or Cerence powered assistant to perform the task but it provides real-time solutions based on real time data and offers co-existence between the wide variety of virtual assistants, third-party services, and content.
For example, MBUX, drivers could say, “Hey Mercedes, how much did Spiderman gross at the box office?” or “Hey Mercedes, what shall I have for dinner tonight?” The MBUX intuitively knows where to route the request and how best to complete the driver’s desired action, providing a streamlined, effortless user experience with the GiGA Genie.
