Ford drops a new all-electric Mustang SUV to stunt on Tesla’s Model X. The 300-mile range 2021 Mach-E is the sleek high-performance SUV we didn’t know we needed. The Mach-E boasts a powertrain and drivetrain that’s more advanced than luxury whips twice the price. The 2021 Mustang Mach-E is available for order, but won’t hit the road until late 2020. The SUV comes in five models, the base Mach-E Select, Premium, First Edition (sold out), California Route 1, and two GT models. Rear-wheel drive is standard in the base model and all-wheel drive is offered in the Premium, First Edition and GT Model.
The five-passenger Mustang Mach-E offers everything one needs in an all-electric SUV – a high range, top-notch drivetrain technology and a sexy design inside and out. The whip boasts LED signature lighting, a dope ultramodern grille, a panoramic roof and cool tri-bar taillights. The long-nosed whip is sexy and spacious– with a 117 inch wheelbase and 186 inches in length. A chiseled hood and deep creases in the sides create a muscular profile and thrilling aerodynamics.
Colors offered include Graber Blue, Rapid Red and Carbonized Gray. The base Mach-E offers 18 inch carbonized gray aluminum wheels. While standard 19 inch wheels with red calipers are fitted to the Mach-E First Edition. The high performance GT model offers 20 inch premium forged machine-faced wheels and red calipers.
The sleek sporty design language of the 2021 Mustang Mach-E compliments its thrilling electric performance. The Mach-E is powered by two permanent magnet motors. The standard range Mach-E boasts a 75 kW lithium-ion battery and extended range a 98.3 kW battery. Each Mach-E model offers its own stats with the base model and Premium offering 255 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque for RWD and 417 lb-ft of torque for the AWD Mach-E Select. The Mach-E GT model boasts a thrilling 459 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque and goes from 0-60 mph in around three seconds.
All models are fitted with independent MacPherson strut front suspension and independent multilink rear suspension for a cushioned agile ride. The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition is equipped with MagneRide Damping System, an adaptive suspension technology that lets drivers hug the road while delivering an exciting, comfortable ride.
Mustang Mach-E delivers three unique drive experiences – Whisper, Engage and Unbridled with each delivering customized driving dynamics and responsiveness. And with the battery inside the underbody, the Mach-E is lighter with less weight in the front of the whip.
The waterproof trunk replacing the engine bay offers 4.8 cu.ft. and can be used as cooler during family outings. In addition to the front trunk, the rear trunk has 29 cu.ft. of space. With the back seats down, the Mach-E boasts 59.6 cu.ft. of space.
Eighteen-inch front ventilated disc brakes and 17-inch solid disc brakes are standard on the base Mach-E Select and the Mach-E GT offers ventilated 19-inch disc brakes and solid 19-inch rear disc brakes.
Safety features in the new Mustang Mach-E are top notch with Ford Co-Pilot360 standard on the base model. The base package includes the Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking, Lane Keeping System, the Reverse Sensing System, Reverse Brake Assist and Automatic High Beams. The upgraded Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist package adds Lane Centering, Speed Sign Recognition, Evasive Steering Assist and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Active Park Assist and a 360-degree camera are also available.
Charging the 2021 Mach-E is faster with its built-in mobile charger that adds an estimated average range of 22 miles per charging hour on a 240V outlet. Ford also makes charging at home or on the go hassle-free by providing multiple home charging solutions and by giving customers access to the FordPass Charging Network – the largest public charging network in the country with more than 12,000 charging stations, including DC fast chargers.
With peak charging rate of 150KW, the Mustang Mach-E with an extended battery and RWD can add an estimated average of 47 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes while charging on a DC Fast charging station. The Standard Range Mustang Mach-E is estimated to achieve a 10 percent to 80 percent charge in approximately 38 minutes while charging on a DC Fast charging station. Ford has more than 2,100 EV certified Ford dealers and more than 3,500 EV trained technicians to support customers nationwide.
The high-tech cabin of the Mustang Mach-E has a 15.5 inch touchscreen with SYNC infotainment and a 10-speaker B&O sound system. Phone as a Key allows drivers to start and drive the Mach-E with their smartphone. Metallic pedal covers, multicolored ambient lighting, and heated leather seating with contrast stitching are all standard. The top-of-the-line Mustang Mach-E GT offers Ford Performance seats with Miko suede inserts an a Miko suede wrapped steering wheel.
