The long – low slung 2018 Infiniti Q60 boasts sexy design cues and a driver-focused lux cockpit replete with high-class materials and advanced comfort and safety technology.
There are only a few luxury sports coupes (or fastbacks) on the market that can rival the Q60 with its MSRP of just $39k for the base 4 cylinder. The new Kia Stinger comes to mind and perhaps the new Lexus LC, but nothing as sexy as the Q60 coupe. Segment competitors included the Cadillac ATS and the Audi A5.
Infiniti’s third iteration of their Q60 dropped in late 2017 and it’s on its way out for a refreshed 2019 model. The 2019 Q60 isn’t in showrooms yet, meanwhile the 2018 models is stunting on its segment.
To truly test the whip’s outstanding capabilities and appeal across state lines, we took the new Q60 3.0t Sport AWD with its top-of-the-line Premium Pack on a Midwest adventure to see the most recent lunar eclipse. The Q60 is a fantasy on wheels that caters to almost every whim. It’s sophisticated and sexy with orgasmic power.
Sleek Coupe Design with Stunning Sportiness
The 2018 Q60 is one of the most stunning luxury coupes under $50k. Its daring proportions rival Porsche and Mercedes-Benz and introduces a new grade of classy performance. Especially impressive is the fact that the Q60 looks more expensive than it retails.
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 is available in five models with three powertrains in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. For 2019, Infiniti combines the Q60 Sport with its ‘LUXE’ trim and offers a lot more standard swag to beef up new 6-car lineup: the 2019 Q60 2.0t Pure and Pure AWD with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine, the 2019 Q60 3.0t Lux and Lux AWD with a 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6, and the 400-horsepower 2019 Q60 Red Sport 400 with its AWD companion.
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 is offered in 10 paint jobs from Dynamic Sunstone Red and Hagane Blue to Liquid Platinum and Graphite Shadow. The Q60’s bold exterior expresses a powerful elegance through its daring proportions and taut muscular lines. It’s dominating stance and lower center of gravity enhances pure sport dynamics. Crescent shaped C-pillars arc forward to emphasize an in-motion appearance. Body color door handles are accented in chrome. And the familiar double arch grille is remixed to appear deeply inset from the body.
The sleek, low slung design of the new Q60 with all its aerodynamically enhanced flair is primed for high speed stunting. Active Grille Shutters are available to help cool the engine at high speeds. Narrow side mirrors accentuate the Q60’s luxurious coupe stance and help direct air down the flanks.
The Q60 brings Infiniti’s sultry design language further into the sports coupe segment with daring curves, deep muscles and flowing lines.
The 2018 Q60 features standard 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. While the rear-wheel drive 2018 Q60 Red Sport 400 models have wider wheels and tires at the rear. Dual chrome exhausts and a panoramic sunroof are available.
Infiniti’s unique LED headlights resemble sultry eyelids and utilize Light Guide Technology to spread light evenly on the road. LED daytime running lights, fog lights, turn signals and brake lights are all standard on the Premium Q60 3.0t. Optional adaptive front lighting features High Beam Assist.
The Q60’s impressive .28 coefficient drag is achieved with lightweight aerodynamically sound components like the front fender vents that direct air out of the engine bay, and the hood which reduces drag.
The new Q60 is more than a head-turner it’s a fantasy of pure indulgence.
Sophisticated Sporty Ride
There’s so much to love about the Q60 before drivers switch it on.
The Q60 3.0t Premium we reviewed features a 3.0 liter V6 front twin-turbo engine with direct injection and a drive mode selector with Sport, Sport+, Standard, Eco and Snow modes. The base 6 cylinder has 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. A 2.0 liter 4 cylinder is offered with the 2018 Q60 2.0 and a more powerful V6 with the Q60 Red Sport 400 that boasts 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
All three engines are matched to a 7 speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching and Adaptive Shift Control. Paddle shifters are available on the Q60 Sport and Q60 Red Sport 400 models.
The Q60 3.0t accelerates with pristine athleticism never losing its cool. Straight line drivability is on a sports car level. And thanks to the long nose, the Q60 pierces the wind like a sword – all while eating up the pavement.
Downshift Rev Matching means the Q60 delivers the right amount of power in heavy traffic and in quick launches. Adaptive Shift Control uses lateral acceleration to detect hills and turns to optimize gear selection.
The Q60’s outstanding performance doesn’t stop with new power plants. The coupe’s unique balance of innovative driving technology empowers a personalized experience behind the wheel.
All-wheel drive works in tandem with speed sensitive power steering and independent front and rear suspension to deliver a magic carpet ride. The Q60 doesn’t feel like a sports car until the driver taps the gas with enough force to unleash the beast. Even then, the Infiniti Q60 jets like a stealth fighter and stays planted as speed edge over 90 mph thanks to Infiniti’s zero lift aerodynamics concept.
The Q60 base V6 boasts standard rack electric power steering. The Q60 3.0t Sport we reviewed has standard Vehicle Speed Sensitive Power Steering that’s both fluid and responsive. Available Direct Adaptive Steering communicates feedback about the road surface to reduce oversteer. Two suspension system allow drivers to tailor a dynamic response from the Q60 that best suits a range of personal driving styles.
Standard independent double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension allows for minimal harshness and more direct and linear handling response. Available Dynamic Digital Suspension boasts new adaptive dampers for an optimized ride with best-in-class handling and agility.
The Drive Mode Selector in the Q60 can be calibrated some 336 different ways to customize engine, suspension and steering to six drive modes: Standard, Snow, Eco, Personal, Sport and Sport + in the Q60 Sport. The drive mode is displayed in the upper screen of the Q60’s Intelligent Intuition System and in the meter cluster screen.
The 2018 Q60 Sport is a true sports coupe with a gentle spirit. Take off has slight aggression that glides to a panther-like stalk. Turning and cornering is fluid that thinks to the whips long nose and Direct Adaptive Steering. Then the whip powers silently down the highway even when heavy on the throttle thanks to advanced insulation.
At super high speeds the whip felt like it was moving slow and sturdy like a mini rocket. All-wheel drive helps the whip feel secure and planted on every road surface. Power-assisted ventilated disc brakes cushion the Q60 firmly with a tap or a punch.
Ultra-Lux Cabin with Abundant Tech

The coolest innovation inside the Infiniti continues to be its refined InTouch Dual Display System with Infiniti Controller. 2019 will likely see more refinements to Infiniti’s infotainment system. But the 2018 system features an 8 inch upper display that shows navigation, the standard rearview monitor and premium around view monitor. A lower 7 inch VGA LCT touch screen display houses controls for infotainment settings, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth and climate controls. Having two screens with prioritized information separated means drivers aren’t distracted switching between audio, navigation and climate.
The Q60 offers two USB ports, and video input plus a standard Bose Performance audio system with 13 speakers and standard voice command.
Infiniti’s InTouch Navigation has simplistic displays with lots of detail like lane guidance, predicative traffic and building icons.
Affordable Advanced Safety Tech
