The Levante, Maserati’s dope inaugural SUV boasts supercar flair in an agile big-body shell. For 2018/2019 Maserati designers decked out the V6 powered Levante with a V8 engine and numerous performance enhancements to make the special edition Levante Trofeo.
With a powerful twin-turbo V8 the 5-passenger Levante Trofeo can sprint to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. Plus cool high gloss fiber flair in the front air intakes, lower spitter, side skirt and even the engine cover give the big-body a sinister style, and help it achieve a near 50:50 weight balance.
Style and power make an ideal marriage in the new Levante Trofeo. Twenty-two inch forged Orione aluminum wheels set off up the Levante’s muscular profile. A redesigned hood features chiseled muscle lines and two vents. The front fascia features full matrix headlights, black on black finished grill and honeycomb mesh.
Other elements are adorned with the “Saetta” Trofeo logo, like the C-pillars. And subtle red paint styles brake calipers, V8 cylinder heads and intake manifolds. The new Levante Trofeo also features carbon fiber trim and oval quad exhausts.
The side air intakes in the lower fascia feature a new, more aggressive design, defined by two aerodynamic wings that give a sense of further stability, visually “pushing” the weight of the car’s nose towards the massive front wheels. And to help improve the airflow distribution, Trofeo is outfitted with carbon fiber side bezel blades and a carbon fiber splitter.
Interior designers created a distinctive environment within the Levante Trofeo cabin. Sculpted sport seats feature a premium full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather available in black, red and tan, all with contrast stitching and “Trofeo” logo stitched on the headrests. Matte carbon fiber trims the Levante Trofeo’s interior. And the big-body boasts a 17 speaker Bowers and Wilkins Premium surround sound system.
The Levante Trofeo launch edition, exclusively for a small number of Maserati customers in the U.S. and Canada, will add matte carbon fiber wave interior trim, optional blue and yellow contracts stitching and a serialized badge integrated on the center console featuring the customer’s name or other personalization.
Levante designers achieved new levels of sportiness in this top of the line Trofeo. The Trofeo’s distinctive 3.8 liter V8 engine delivers 590 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque and reaches a top speed of 187 mph.
Maserati engineers developed the mighty 3.8-liter Twin Turbo V8 engine to accommodate the Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, providing it with a new crankcase design. New turbochargers feature increased flow, while redesigned cylinder heads with specific camshafts and valves, different pistons and new connecting rods allow the ability to reach the maximum power targets in combination with specific engine calibration mapping.
Adding agility and robust handling is the double wishbone front and Multilink rear suspension, Integrated Vehicle Control and Q4 Intelligent all-wheel drive.
The new “Corsa” Driving mode with Launch Control, in addition to the existing Normal, I.C.E., Sport and Off Road modes has been adopted to enhance its athletic character. “Corsa” driving mode further improves engine response and opens exhaust valves in acceleration, as well as provides faster gear shifting, lower air suspension height levels, sportier Skyhook damping and optimized Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive settings.
Production begins on the limited series Levante Trofeo is this summer.
