The 2018 Audi RS 4 Avant is on sale now in the UK for £61,625 ($75,735.) The latest bearer of the RS badge combines exceptional performance and efficiency from a 2.9 TFSI engine delivering 450PS and 600 Nm of torque.
The 4th generation RS 4 Avant takes design cues from the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO. The hatch sports a Nogaro blue pearl paint job with a refined honeycomb grille, matrix LED headlights with tinted bezels and a cool roof spoiler. Nineteen-inch forged aluminum wheels are standard. Twenty-inch aluminum wheels are also available. At the rear the RS-specific diffuser insert, the oval tailpipes of the RS exhaust system and the RS roof edge spoiler make for a distinctive look.
The new 2018 RS 4 Avant’s biturbo V6 that boasts 450PS and 442 lb-ft of torque is out of this world with 125.4 lb-ft more torque than the previous model. Full torque is available across a broad engine speed range from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm. It is key to how the Audi RS 4 is able to sprint from 0 to 62mph in 4.1 seconds. The turbo hatch also boasts a top speed of 155 mph.
RS sport suspension and Audi drive select as standard. With the optional RS dynamic package, the top speed increases to 174 mph. The power of the 2.9 TFSI biturbo is supplied to the permanent all-wheel drive via an eight-speed tiptronic with optimized ratios. Audi also offers a rear sport differential enabling torque division between the rear wheels for enhanced handling adjustability a feature standard in the UK.
The lighter new RS 4 is also very efficient with a 31 mpg combined EPA. Dynamic handling is boosted with sport suspension and optional Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). Ceramic brakes and dynamic steering are options that give this RS 4 Avant a sporty edge and pits it against lux hatches like the Infiniti Q30 and the Lexus CT 350 F-sport. Drivers can tailor their driving experience with Audi drive select.
