Earlier this year Ferrari unveiled the 812 Superfast, a new fast-back inspired rendering of their mid-front engine sports car. The all-new Ferrari 812 Superfast, properly named takes design cues from the LaFerrari, the F12 Berlinetta and some of the brands more formidable racing whips to construct what they’re calling the most powerful Ferrari ever built.
The 812 Superfast boasts a futuristic fastback coupe design with big muscle creases sculpting in the sides and hood, front bonnet and rear diffuser.
The front of the whip is simply beautiful, with many cues fashioning superb aerodynamics. Front air diffusers draw air to the underbody, and with a mobile aero system can instantaneously open to increase downforce and reduce drag.
Three pairs of curved dams at the front underbody with new blowing slots increase downforce by 30%. And rear spoiler and rear wheel arches have also been fine tuned to increase downforce. The rear diffuser has three active flaps that rotate to a 14 degree angle to completely stall the diffuser and significantly reduce drag.
The rear of the 812 Superfast is short with four round LED tail lights and a suspended spitter in the diffuser.
With a curb weight of 1,630 kg, the most stuntastic part of this whip is the reimagined front focused drivetrain said to benchmark future designs.
The 812 Superfast has a 6.5 liter V12 engine with a superb 800 cv (8,000 rpm) and 718 Nm of torque. Eighty-Percent of the torque is available at 3,500 rpm. And the whip sprints from 0-62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and has a max speed of 340 km/hr, 8,900 rev range.
A 350-bar direct injection system and F1 inspired variable valve timing aid efficiency.
And the high-powered engine has efficient Stop & Start on the Move technology that will shut down the engine at low speed city driving and in traffic.
A F1 7-speed dual-clutch transmission boasts shorter gears and response times. The 812 Superfast is the first Ferrari with Electric Power Steering and the Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 System.
Ferrari Peak Performance can indicate mix grip during tight cornering and Ferrari Power Oversteer helps to realign the coupe steering out of corners. The 812 Superfast is also equipped with Brembo Extreme Brakes, same as on the LaFerrari, with a high performance ABS.
The driver focused cockpit is laced with premium sport features. The horizontal dash wraps around the center air vents and envelopes driver and passenger similar to the LaFerrari. The cabin features contrast stitched perforated leather and flat-bottomed steering wheel. A 12-speaker audio system features QuantumLogic. The Personalisation Program allows customers to tailor the whip to their personal style.
