An impressive new Panamera Hybrid will be on sale this year.
The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is sleek and sexy with balanced hypercar efficiency. With the success of the 919 Hybrid at the 2015 and 2016 Le Mans race, Porsche extends its foot in the hybrid market giving one of its most popular sedans all-wheel drive and 25/100 km fuel consumption.
The 2018 Porsche Panamera features the same hybrid strategy of the 918 Spyder. The E-Hybrid features a 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery. The 12-volt battery takes 12 hours to fully charge via a 120 volt (10 amp) outlet and 3 hours with a 240 volt (40 amp) connection.
With advanced all-wheel drive and three-chamber air suspension the whip is race ready. And the Panamera is still light on its feet with a 0-62 mph sprint time of just 4.4 seconds and 172 mph on the dash.
The steering wheel of the 2018 Porsche Panamera hybrid has a drive mode switch which, along with the Porsche Communication Management can adjust driving dynamics to 4 hybrid modes and 2 sport modes. The whip starts in electric E-Power mode that has a top speed of 86 mph.
New Hybrid Auto mode is for efficient touring, combining internal combustion and electric mode. E-Hold mode will preserve the electric charge to utilize in an environmental zone.
In E-Charge mode, the V6 engine charges the battery. In Sport mode, the V6 has the e-boost capability. And along with max e-boost, Sport Plus mode can quickly recharge the battery.
The new Panamera Hybrid has the same quick-shifting 8 speed PDK automatic transmission as its Panamera siblings. And the drivetrain’s decoupler is actuated by an electric clutch.
The Panamera Hybrid has total output of 462 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
The Porsche Advanced Cockpit is leather-clad with two 7 inch screens in the dash and a 12.3 inch Porsche Communication Management display.
The 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid goes on sale in the US this summer.
