Bentley’s Mulsanne line now boasts 3 models; the base Mulsanne, the Mulsanne Speed, and the executive-styled Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase- all with elegant swag and an ultramodern luxury interior.
New for 2017
• For the first time, the Mulsanne family now has three distinct models with their own unique abilities and attributes.
• The new Mulsanne has a completely redesigned front fascia with new fenders radiator shell, grill, bonnet, and LED lights for a more contemporary flair with low-key flashy elements.
• Mulsanne seats are now available in two new styles, Fluted or Quilted for ultra-suppleness.
• An all new touch-screen based infotainment system with a dope rear-seat entertainment decks out each model.
Stylish Modernized Lux-limo Exterior
The new Mulsanne family hits the streets this summer, all having unrivaled levels of attention to detail and craftsmanship. The Mulsanne Speed is the pinnacle of luxury and performance with greater power, torque and refinement. The Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase adds 250 mm of legroom, airline-style seats and a pair of tablets on the front seat backs.
The Mulsanne’s all-new exterior design features dope all-LED headlights emblazoned with ‘Bentley’ and chrome-capped headlamp washers. The Mulsanne also has an opulent new grille – 80 mm wider, with large stainless steel vertical vanes. A one-piece bumper, radiator shell and bonnet integrate seamlessly and flow down to the lower vane-grille section, which is flanked by ‘B’ signature matrix elements finished in bright chrome.
The bright ware continues on each side with new B-shaped wing vents incorporated into the lower section of the fender. The one piece bumper is 26 mm wider and new tail lamps have a ‘B’ theme.
And 20 inch alloy wheels and 265/45 ZR 20 tires are standard with 21 inch wheels available in three styles with 265/40 ZR 21 inch tires.
Discreet high-performance first-class luxury is how I describe this fantasmic mini limo. The Mulsanne is great chauffeur-driven or whipped on the highway at track speeds with a powerful V8 and ZF transmission.
New Top-Quality Sumptuous Interior
Beyond performance, the new Mulsanne’s greatest features are on the inside. The mobile mansion boasts new Fluted or Quilted seat styles with the option for 24 upholstery colors and single or two-tone finishes.
A choice of 13 different veneers adorn the solid walnut or cherry oak dash. Bright-polished stainless steel adorns the interior along with unique glass switchgear, traditional knurled controls and deep pile carpets all creating the pinnacle luxury environment.
Also new for 2017 is a suite of advanced technologies, starting with an 8 inch touchscreen, new infotainment system, Naim for Bentley Premium Audio System and two 10.2 inch Android devices on the front seatbacks. 4G, Wi-Fi is included along with Bluetooth, 60 GB of hard-drive storage and access to over a million Android apps – from Skype to Google Play and Spotify.
The available Naim for Bentley Premium Audio bespoke audio system has 20 speakers, a 2,200 watt amplifier and Super Tweeter.
Powerful V8 with Innovative Dynamic Tech
The Mulsanne has a standard 6.7 liter V8 engine with 505 horsepower and a staggering 752 lb-ft of torque. 60 mph is achieved from a standing start in just 5.1 seconds and the whip has a top speed of 184 mph. The Mulsanne’s V8 engine features cylinder deactivation and variable cam phasing, which both elevate efficiency.
The air suspension system with Continuous Damping Control (CDC) creates a refined and comfortable ride at lower speeds, and lowers the Mulsanne’s ride height automatically at high speeds to reduce lift and improve aerodynamic stability.
The Drive Dynamics Control system, operated by a rotary switch mounted next to the gearshift selector has three standard modes – Bentley, Sport and Comfort – offering precise calibration of suspension and steering control systems. A fourth mode, Custom, allows the driver to select bespoke settings via the multimedia system to ‘tune’ the Mulsanne to a preferred driving style.
The Mulsanne’s prodigious power and torque are complemented by all-new chassis hardware including active engine mounts and suspension bushes. To further enhance the trademark hushed ride, Bentley Mulsanne’s tires have the latest noise absorption technology. The advanced foam architecture reduces interior cabin noise by up to 4 dBA and provides an unmatched level of ride refinement.
Safety features include a blind spot monitor, advanced automatic stability control with collision mitigation tech, and High Beam Assist.
Mulsanne Speed- Contemporary Elegance and Sporting Purpose
The Mulsanne Speed is my kind of lux superior sedan. The more powerful Mulsanne has a 6.7 liter V8 engine with 530 hp, a whopping 811 lb-ft of torque and a 60 mph sprint time of 4.8 seconds. The Mulsanne speed also has an impressive top speed of 190 mph, unrivaled by any lux sedan!
The Mulsanne Speed’s engine is paired with a recalibrated ZF 8-speed gearbox with an optimized gear strategy designed for instant power delivery. ‘S’ mode gives the driver even more control, and maintains the engine speed above 2,000 rpm so that the turbochargers are always spooled and ready to deliver instantaneous performance.
To make the most of the Speed’s effortless power and acceleration, an even more driver-focused sport suspension mode is included. While the Bentley and Comfort suspension modes provide a comfort-focused and fully compliant chassis set-up, the Sport mode stiffens the all-round air suspension for improved body control and adjusts the steering dynamics for greater feedback and accuracy.
The Mulsanne Speed features a series of uniquely assertive styling features that mark it out as the high-performance pinnacle flagship. A dark tint finish is applied to the exterior bright ware, affording the Speed a more menacing appearance. Exclusive 21” hand-finished ‘Speed’ alloy wheels, dark tinted front and rear lamps, rifled sports exhausts, and Speed fender badging highlight the credentials of the world’s fastest ultra-luxury driving experience.
On the inside, the Speed adds a number of new features that highlight its athletic sporting abilities. The standard Mulliner Driving Specification interior adds diamond-quilted seats, a knurled gear lever, drilled alloy sport pedals and optional carbon fiber waistrail inserts.
Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase Redefines the Executive Lux Mobile
Designed for customers too important to drive, the Bentley Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase offers a first-class air-travel experience for the road as well as an expanded range of two-tone paint jobs and 21 inch wheels.
The 250 mm extension of the Mulsanne’s wheelbase (from 3,266 mm up to 3,516 mm) is entirely to the benefit of rear-seat passenger legroom. This significant increase in interior space makes the Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase the most generously proportion pinnacle luxury limousine in the world.
Airline-style electronic leg rests, integrated into the bases of the two rear seats extend outward and pivot, affording rear-seat passengers the luxury of choice between upright, relaxed and reclined seating positions.
Ornate and functional, the sweeping center console is appointed in the finest handcrafted veneer, metal, glass and leather and houses USB ports, pen holders, cup holders and a glass-covered stowage area. The rear also has controls for the sunroof that has an Alcantara sun blind.
The 2016 Mulsanne family will hit the streets this summer. Pricing and details about safety technology haven’t been announced.
