Audi comes hard for 2016 with their new S8. The early specs are impressive for this super sedan. The S8 is top of the line, but next year Audi pushes the limits further by making this whip the fastest S8 ever. With a top speed of possible 189 horsepower and an overboost function that adds and extra 50 lb-ft of torque, the S8 will have race-tuned prowess and a 0-62 mph time of just 3.8 seconds. Wowsers.
A lightweight aluminum Space Frame for the 2016 S8 weighs just 509 lbs. And carbon fiber components on the exterior give the S8 great aerodynamics with its powerful V8 engine. Carbon fiber lines side air inlets, the blade at the front apron and mirror housings, and rear spoiler.
The 2016 S8 also has cool standard Matrix LED headlights and dynamic turn signals in the front and rear. The state-of-the-art lights use mapping data from the MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Plus and other sensors to individually dim or illuminate the 25 small LEDs are needed. Darken taillights create a more futuristic sporty look.
The standard dual branch sport exhausts system opens out into two high gloss black tail pipes on the left and right modified by Quattro GmbH. The trim at the rear diffuser, Single Frame front grille, and air inlets is part of the black styling package.
The new S8 Plus will also have an available matte finish in floret silver. The UK S8 model will have 21 inch high gloss black double-spoke alloy wheels.
The most impressive part of the 2016 S8 is the new versatile V8. The 4.0 TFSI biturbo engine has to be extensively modified and now has special engine management control with speed and change pressure boosting to its modified exhausts valves.
The V8 produces 596 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque and an overboost function increases torque up to 553 lb-ft. With the overboost function in the dynamics package, the S8 will reach a top speed of 189 mph from the standard top speed of 155 mph. Carbon fiver reinforced ceramic brakes with anthracite-grey calipers are also added with the dynamics package.
The full force of this prodigious output is transmitted to the road via eight speed tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. A sports differential apportions the torque between the rear wheels for optimal directional stability.
S Sports adaptive air suspension and dynamic steering have been fine-tuned also. The S8 Plus has the highest power-to-weight ratio of any premium sports sedan with all wheel drive at 288 hp/ ton.
The interior of the S8 is trimmed in leather with an Alcantara headliner and dash. The S8 has 22-way adjustable sports seats with available contrast stitching and Arras red piping.
A contrasting red thread woven into the upper inlay can also be specified in favor of the carbon atlas inlays fitted as standard. Black piano paint trims the gearshift, the tiptronic, and the center console. The interior also features stainless steel pedals.
Also cool is the 14-speaker Bose Surround Sound System, 360 degree camera, privacy glass, power door closure, and power trunk lid.
The $109k 2016 Audi S8 will go on sale in October.
