The Ford Edge is one of the coolest SUVs under $30k. It’s a practical, big-body with spunk, interior luxury, and a smooth road performance. Now, Ford has released a new Edge Sport that’s said to be the most powerful Edge yet. The specs are impressive- a 2.7 liter V6 with a 10% increase in horsepower along with stylish 20 inch aluminum wheels and LED headlights and tail lights. The Edge Sport is a big-body SUV that can rip the road and be a family car.
The new Edge Sport is available in new colors like Electric Spice, Bronze Fire Metallic, and Magnetic. The new stiffer SUV has a more athletic profile with efficiency under the hood and more high quality materials and new infotainment inside. Twenty-one inch premium tarnished dark low-gloss dark aluminum wheels are also available.
Powered by Ford’s newest Ecoboost engine, a 2.7 liter V6, the 2015 Ford Edge Sport builds on its reputation as the modern utility vehicle for people who want to have fun behind the wheel. The efficient engine has 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Peak torque is available at 2,250 rpm, lower than the 2014 model that peaked at 4,400 rpm.
The 2.7 liter Ecoboost engine has cylinder blocks made with compacted graphite iron. The added stiffness optimizes power with a smaller mass, while enabling refined noise vibration and harshness control. A die cast aluminum engine–block latter frame and composite oil pan save more weight.
The FWD Edge Sport has a combined EPA of 21 mpg (27 mph highway, 18 mph city); and the AWD Edge Sport has a 20 mpg combined EPA (24 mpg highway, 17 mpg city.) Plus the new Edge Sport has Active Noise Cancellation technology that uses microphones to suppress engine noise.
The SUV also has new suspension upgrades with anti roll bars that are 15% stiffer than the base model. Larger monotube dampers and stiffer coil springs contribute to a 20% decrease in body roll.
The 2015 Edge Sport is even smoother but with more bite thanks to a lighter sturdier engine and more dynamic suspension system. Now its highway performance is even edgier. Enhanced damping gives the Edge Sort improved road holding capability along with sharper steering.
The interior of the of the 2015 Ford Edge features leather trimmed sport seats with perforated suede inserts, aluminum brake and accelerator pedal covers, ambient lighting and metal plated accents throughout.
Drivers have two configurable LCD screens in their instrument cluster and an 8 inch LCD screen with Ford Sync technology. The Edge has a standard 12 speaker Sony audio system, SD card reader and two USB ports.
Along with the base model SE and SEL models, the 2015 Ford Edge is offered in a Titanium Series. Base model pricing starts at $28,100. The 2015 Edge Sport starts at $38,100.
