This auto show season brought us highly anticipated whips from Acura and Honda. Yet the new Ford GT production model stole the show. Produced under secrecy, the Ford GT shocked fans at the North American International Auto Show and became the undisputed best in show. Thus the new GT took the helm as the 2015 Chicago Auto Show’s most anticipated debut.
Forget the awardees, the Ford GT has everyone buzzing. The new GT, which goes into production in 2016 is a throwback to the infamous FT that won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The new version boasts lightweight components, a super efficient powertrain, and a sensual design. The GT stunted on the haphazard release of the new Acura NSX; and even the new Porsche Panamera E Hybrid fell into its shadows.
The ultra-high performance GT is Ford’s most athletic whip, with racing technology an advanced aerodynamic design, and an efficient Ecoboost V6 engine with 600 horsepower!

Elegant Lightweight Supercar
The new GT is Ford’s landmark innovation of supreme aerodynamics and lightweight components that will be featured in Ford’s future production cars. With a broad application of structural carbon fiber elements, the GT will have one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car. The Ford GT has a carbon fiber passenger cell with carbon fiber body panels. The front and rear subframes are made with aluminum.
The sexy new GT’s teardrop design has a racer’s spirit with a low wide stance, sculpted body panels, and an aggressive front fascia. The GT sits on 20 inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cut 2 tires and up swinging “Lambo” doors. The active rear spoiler auto adjusts its height and pitch level to speed and conditions. Aerodynamics is further enhanced by the GT’s deep curved windshield and aircraft inspired fuselage. Most every aspect of the GT’s exterior design works to reduce drag and enhance downforce and stability. While it shares it legacy with classic Ford racecars, the GT is a street ready whip with contemporary flair.
Efficiency Meets Supercar Performance
The Ford GT’s athletic exterior boosts hypercar efficiency. The mid-engine GT has a twin turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 engine with Ford’s popular Ecoboost technology. Ford’s twin-turbo Ecoboost V6 raced to three wins in its first season of the IMSA TUDOR US Sports Car Championship in 2014.
The GT’s efficient V6 engine has an impressive 600 horsepower. The GT’s V6 also features direct and port fuel injection that improves engine response plus a low-friction roller-finger follower valvetrain.
The twin-turbocharged V6 is paired with a 7 speed dual clutch transaxle with paddle shifters. The GT also features adjustable ride height and an active torsion bar and pushrod suspension.
The purposeful race-inspired cockpit seats two lucky passengers. The F1 styled steering wheel integrates all the driver’s main controls.
