The Porsche Cayenne has a striking new look with powertrain enhancements and a high-tech driver-focused interior. The 2nd generation 2015 Cayenne will have four models for sale in the US this winter: the Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, and Cayenne S E Hybrid.
The design of the new Cayenne has a wider stance with a redesigned front fascia, front fenders, and hood. Dual exhausts are now integrated into the rear fascia, and three point LED daytime running lights are standard on the Diesel, S, and the S E Hybrid Cayenne. The Cayenne Turbo has standard high performance LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System. Bi –xenon headlights are standard on the Diesel, Cayenne S, and the S E Hybrid.
Performance cues include air blades that enhance engine cooling and active air flaps that control airflow to the engine by opening and closing when needed. The 2015 Cayenne isn’t just about style; its performance is more efficient with an S E Hybrid model that can run on pure electric.
The Cayenne S, ($74,100) has a 3.6 liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 420 horsepower, 406 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 160 mph. The V6 is mated to an 8 speed Triptronic S transmission. At 117 hp/ liter, the Cayenne S goes from 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds.
The 2015 Cayenne Turbo ($113,000) boasts a 4.8 liter V8 engine with an impressive 520 horsepwer and 553 lb-ft of torque. The Cayenne turbo goes from 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 175 mph-dayyummmm!
The more efficient Cayenne Diesel ($61,700) has a 3 liter turbocharged V6 engine with 204 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 135 mph.
Lastly, the 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E Hybrid ($76,400) will be the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. Inspiration for the design of S E Hybrid comes from the successful Porsche 918 Spyder and the Panamera S E Hybrid. The Cayenne S E Hybrid has the latest hybrid technology with a lithium-ion battery coupled with the high performance expected of a Porsche SUV.
The S E Hybrid has a 3 liter supercharged V6 with 333 horsepower and 416 lb-ft of torque. An electric motor adds 95 horsepower and has an all electric top speed of 78 mph. The S E Hybrid, with its electric motor has 416 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed 151 mph.
And the Cayenne S E Hybrid can go from 0-62 in 5.4 seconds. The traction battery can be charged from a power grid, or with regenerative braking.
All models have the efficient Start-Stop technology that saves fuel by shutting off the engine when idle. And all Cayenne models have optimized thermal management.
