Chrysler attempts to make the best mid-sized sedan for 20k. The 2015 200 is said to be brand new inside and out with state-of-the-art technology. The 2015 200 offers some surprising features at its price point, like two engine options, a nine speed transmission, and all-wheel-drive. The new sexier, more tech-advanced Chrysler 200 will be a big competitor to the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, and the Honda Accord.
The most notable features the 2015 200 offers are under the hood and inside. Yet the 2015 200’s exterior design employs simple innovations like LED daytime running lights, fog lamps and tail lamps, and aluminum trim. The 200 isn’t the largest sedan, but it displays a muscular stance thanks to sculpted doors. Chrysler claims the 2015 200 is the most aerodynamic vehicle in its class. Improvements with the aerodynamic design of the 200 aid fuel efficiency and reduce cabin noise for an overall smoother ride. The 200’s frame is constructed using Chrysler’s US wide platform for stiffer performance. The chassis was designed for a sportier ride with precise handling and comfort at high speeds. Chrysler’s 200S model features gloss black trim, dual exhausts, and 19-inch aluminum black wheels.
The 2015 Chrysler 200’s best feature is its powertrain. Two engine options are available. The standard 2.4 liter Multiair 2 Tigershark I4 engine has 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. And a 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 engine is available with 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. A first ever 9 speed automatic transmission is standard. No other mid-size sedan comes standard with a 9 speed automatic transmission. The 9 speed transmission adds benefits like the enhance EPA of 35 mpg’s combined and refined seamless torque delivery.
Also available is the innovative new all-wheel-drive system with a segment first disconnecting rear axle that can operate in front wheel drive when all-wheel drive isn’t needed. The all-wheel drive system features a “sport” mode with paddle shifters. In sport mode, the 2015 200 has more dynamic driving with enhanced handling and suspension bushing tuning.
The 2015 Chrysler 200’s interior offers quality materials and high-tech safety, comfort, and infotainment features. A luxury package adds soft touch leather seating. A rotary e-dial replaces a shifter. A 7 inch LCD color instrument cluster with a glowing blue bezel is semi-configurable. Drivers can display speed, outside temperature, a compass, navigation, real-time fuel economy and more. An 8 inch touchscreen uses Chrysler’s popular UConnect system. UConnect offers lux entertainment, easy-to-use voice activated navigation, hands-free voice command, voice-to-text, fuel prices, and movie information.
Safety features in the 2015 Chrysler 200 are plentiful- the most in its segment. Radar enhanced technology with camera based features make the 200 one of the safest sedans in the Chrysler brand. Standard is the electronic park brake with Safe Hold, electronic stability control, ABS, electronic roll mitigation, back-up camera, blind spot monitoring, and cross path detection. Other cool features included the forward collision warning, Adaptive Cruise Control Plus, and Park Assist.
With all its segment-first and segment-leading features inside and out, the 2015 Chrysler 200 will quickly take over the mid-size segment. With 35 mpg EPA, two engine options, a 9 speed trans, and safety and infotainment technology throughout, the 2015 Chrysler 200 will be one of the coolest 20k whips on the road this year. The 2015 Chrysler 200 has a MSRP of $21,700.
