The 2015 Ford Mustang is one of the most prized production whips unveiled this Auto Show season. An ultra-sexy macho design, an efficient powertrain, and a sporty cockpit are a few of the attributes of the new Mustang that will make it a top seller among muscle cars. Ford’s new Mustang further propels top sales figures for the American manufacturer. With 9 million cars sold, the Mustang is now prepared to attack European and Asian markets. I’m grateful for the return of the classic Mustang with a sporty unique cutting-edge design.
The 2015 Mustang marks the 50th anniversary of the pony. Ford did an amazing job on the exterior design blending the classic look with forward-thinking flair. The 2015 Mustang is wider and lower with a sexy trapezoidal grille, “shark bite” front facia, and 3D taillamps. With a sportier stance, the new Mustang has a more sloped front and rear windshields and an aviator’s cockpit. The 2015 Mustang fastback has a convertible companion and a GT sibling available in an array of tricked out colors.
A 3.7 liter V6 is standard in the 2015 Mustang. The V6 offers 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. A 2.3 liter Ecoboost engine is available with direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing. Three hundred five horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque is achieved with an innovative intake manifold and turbocharger housing. The 2.3 liter V6 is the first Ford engine with a low-inertia twin scroll turbocharger for greater emissions and efficiency. Other advantages of the new ecoboost engine include a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, piston cooling jets and a deep-sump die cast aluminum oil pan.
A beastly 5 liter V8 engine is also available with 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The V8 features larger intake and exhaust valves, sinter forged connecting rods, and a rebalanced forged crankshaft.
The 2015 Mustang also has an available manual gearbox or Select Shift 6-speed automatic transmission with rev matching and steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. A Drive Mode Selector allows drivers to adjust steering, transmission, and electronic stability control to their road conditions. The Mustang has a double ball joint front MacPherson strut suspension and independent rear suspension. Three brake packages are offered.
The interior of the new Mustang is designed like a cockpit. SYNC, AppLink, and MyKey, are standard. TrackApp and MyColor are also available with the ShakerPro audio system. The Mustang GT has the added sport of a Launch Control system that helps it achieve a top speed of 155 mph quickly and smoothly. Safety technologies include the Blind Spot Monitor with Cross Traffic Alert. Functionality and sporty performance is achieved in the American-made Mustang that will help it compete well with its exotic peers.
