Concept Flair- Volvo Coupe

by Tony West

The sexy new Volvo Coupe is making waves at the Frankfurt Auto Show, heading to US roads soon. The Concept Coupe is nearly everything I didn’t realize I wanted to see in a new Volvo production line- sleek, contoured, and swanky inside and out. Inspired by Scandinavian design cues, the Concept Coupe has a lower hood, sleek roofline, “floating” grille, and new T-shaped headlights. The distance between the dashboard and rear axle have been extended and greenhouse moved slightly back. Volvo does a great job maximizing space with the new Coupe. The result is a youthful sporty, luxury coupe, a rightful heir to the P1800 whip from five decades ago.

The most interesting feature of the Coupe is the efficient powertrain. The Concept Coupe has a 2.0 liter supercharged 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor on the rear axle for a total output of 400 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. I dig.

Inside the Concept Coupe is leather seating, wood trim, and a large touch screen for infotainment and adjusting the Heads Up Display.
