The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class takes premium lux interiors to a new level. Mercedes rolls out the 2014 S550 and S550 4-Matic sedans with a slew of new safety and premium features. While the exterior design for 2014 is pretty “typical” the interior is fresh to death, with wood and chrome, over 300 LED lights (not 1 bulb) and accouterments for driver and backseat passengers.
With increased demand for passenger focused luxury from customers who utilize the S-Class for chauffeur driven excursions, Mercedes-Benz chose to include a selection of 4 Seat Variations for the rear. The First Class Rear option is preferred for Executive use with reclining rear seats with adjustable calf support, 2 folding tables, and optional folding driver’s seat.
Along with options for seat configurations, the S-Class has luxury packages like the Warmth and Comfort Package with heated door panels, heated steering wheel, heating and ventilated front and rear seats, and heated armrest. The Air Balance Package has air filtration and fragrance in the HVAC. The front seat even has an optional Hot Stone Massage function.
The Mercedes-Benz S Class will come as an S550 and S550 4-Matic sedan. The S550 and S550 4-Matic have a V8 engine with 455 horsepower and a whopping 516 lb-ft of torque. Both models have a top speed of 130mph but with an Executive in the First Class rear, speeding wouldn’t be as much a priority. Still the S-Class goes from 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds, better than most other luxury sedans. Both the S550 and the 4-Matic come with a 7-speed automatic transmission, ESC, and electromechanical steering.
As the first vehicle to be completely illuminated with LED lights, the S-Class has nearly 500 LEDs- 56 for the headlamps, 39 for the taillights and rear fog lamps, and nearly 300 for the interior. The interior ambient lighting has 7 available color options and 5 dimming levels with 4 dimming zones. In addition to sexy ambient lighting, the S-Class has wood trim for the dash and center console with pearl paint finishes in the front and rear. The S-Class also has 2 hi-res 12.3-inch TFT Color Displays one with vehicle information for the driver and the other for entertainment and navigation. Navigation is interactive, displaying real time traffic, an animated compass, and the “Driveshow” for passenger info. The 2014 S-Class also has a cool entertainment which includes a multiuser system where passengers can control the entertainment system from any seat. The Frontbass system was used for the first time in this sedan for spectacular sound quality. With a more rigid aluminum hybrid body, the S-Class’ exterior craftsmanship aims to reduce noise and be lighter and tougher. And Pre-Safe functions in the S-Class aim to anticipate a crash an assist the driver in reacting preeminently. Pre-Safe Plus will anticipate a rear-end collision and activate hazard lights then firmly plant the brakes. Pre-Safe Brake helps to avoid collisions at speeds under 30mph. And Pre-Safe Impulse helps prevent driver and passenger from being ejected from the car in a collision. And with the Intelligent Drive Safety System, potential crashes are determined, deduced, and then an integrated response is delivered. Integrated responses utilize a number of safety features like Attention Assist, Night View Assist Plus, Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, and Brake Assist with Cross Traffic Assist.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class stands to beat out competitors with cutting-edge smart versatile luxury for the upper echelon.
