2013 will bring a few newly designed Audi models. The most powerful is the S8, a twin turbo charged V8 that goes from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The Audi S8 is has always been an amazing car inside and out. I appreciate how Audi combines luxury and sport in their designs for truly enjoyable vehicles. Most other luxury manufactures don’t come close.
The exterior of the 2013 Audi S8 maintains that sleek sexy design with two-blade horizontal slats in the grille, lower bumper side air intakes, and cool rear diffuser. The S8 also has 21” wheels and the S8 logo painted on the calipers, gauges, door sils, and throughout the inside of the car- which is sure to attract those who appreciate that exclusive flair.
Seating in the 2013 Audi S8 is luxurious and grand. The interior inlays of the S8 can be customized with 4 materials; carbon atlas, matte brushed aluminum, fine grain ash natural brown wood, or layered oak wood. Front seats adjust 22 ways with standard heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The Valcona leather upholstery with the diamond cross-stitched pattern and piping gives the S8’s interior a more sporty racecar look.
The 2013 Audi S8 sedan performs better than some sports cars. The luxurious S8 boast a staggering 520hp and 479lb ft of torque for a top speed of 155mph. The lightweight chassis is the result of Audi ASF (aluminum space frame) technology, and along with the 4.0 liter two-turbo engine delivers responsive sport air suspension and agility. The Audi Drive Select system actively adjusts steering suspension, engine output and transmission performance for ultimate efficiency. Audi’s Cylinder on Demand technology deactivates four of the eight cylinders at lower loads reducing fuel consumption by 10% at moderate highway speeds. Adding more efficiency to the S8 is the Active Noise Cancelation system that negates undesirable changes in engine/ exhaust sound. Innovative engine design, active engine mounts dampening vibrations at lower frequencies, and drive by wire throttle help the S8 consume 27% less fuel but deliver 16% more power.
Audi also added a lot of innovative safety features to the 2013 S8 like Adaptive Cruise Control, Audi Lane Assists, Audi Side Assists, Night Vision Assistant, Audi Pre Sense Plus, and front and rear cameras. The most impressive for me is the Audi Connect feature, which utilizes Google Earth for navigation. Google Earth enables realistic satellite views and allows me to zoom in and get real-time traffic. Audi Connect is also the first factory vehicle integration of WiFi service. As a hotspot, the 2013 S8 allows for 8 devices to connect. Not only am I comfortable in this elegant beast of a driving machine, I’m getting great mpg’s and pulling a much more efficient load.
The 2013 Audi S8 sells for $110,000.
