One of my favorite displays at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show was for the Ram 1500. Ram set up a test course in the corner of McCormick’s large showroom, and took patrons on the ride of their life. I was very impressed by the capabilities of the Ram 1500 – Big Horn Edition, as the driver pushed the pick up truck to the limit. Though I’d be hesitant to take a Ram up and down a 30 foot hill, I’m convinced now that I’d been safe and comfortable. Watch the great feats of the RAM 1500 on an all-terrain test course!
The best feature of the Ram 1500 is of course the 5.7 liter HEMI. But there’s more to this big body truck.
Smooth(ish) Over the Humps
The Dodge Ram handles superb driving over I-beams because of its 4 wheel drive.
Cool rear spring suspension all around, instead of a leaf spring makes for NO FLEX IN THE FRAME! Flex in the frame causes early wear and tear.
The Ram 1500 is driven up a 30 foot hill smoothly with 400 foot lbs of torque. This is while pulling over 1500 lbs of weight in the empty hatch. Descending down the hill is smooth even with your foot off the brake.
